Organisation

CATS is headed by the CATS-Council in accordance with an inter-institutional agreement. The Council consists of the Acting Directors of the participating institutions (SAI, ZO, IfE and HCTS) as well as representatives from disciplines without a focus on Asia. The CATS Council appoints a speaker from among its members who organizes joint activities with the managing directors of the participating institutions and represents CATS in all matters.

CATS was founded by the Sinologist Prof. Dr. Barbara Mittler and the Indologist Prof. Dr. Axel Michaels, who jointly acted as founding directors during the start-up phase (2012-2019).
